It's a cliché, but Metroid Dread won't be a game for everyone. If you like a game that doesn't hold your hand at all, is brutally difficult, requires precision from every movement and busts your back, you'll love Samus' latest mission. If not, your experience will vary depending on how much you can put up with the genre’s pitfalls and what might be considered obtuse design decisions. Metroid Dread almost broke me several times, but it might just be what you're after. It took a while, but Samus is back, and hopefully not going away for so long this time.

Deiland: Pocket Planet is a perfectly fine farming sim with the novelty of eking out existence on little planets. However, the lean towards busy work means that only fans of the survival genre will get the most out of it.

Narita Boy is a lovingly crafted action-adventure game that should appease anyone who’s into 2D pixel graphics. The game offers a relatively short but extremely memorable experience.

The Red Strings Club fits into a niche, a cyberpunk narrative with a touch of noir bundled with in a adventure game. If any of these genres grabs your interest then you should pull up a seat, make a drink and soak into the electronic synth tunes as The Red Strings Club gives you something to really think about.

Overall Immortal Redneck is fun to play. It’s not punishingly hard and the game is enjoyable enough to keep you going with the upgrade loop as you grow more powerful to get more gold…so you can grow more powerful. It’s nice to get a change from the top-down roguelikes and be able to jump around and not worry that one wrong move will stop you dead.
If you’re looking for a good challenge and enjoy a good first-person shooter then you should give Immortal Redneck a look.

Metroid: Samus Returns

It sounds cliché, but Metroid: Samus Returns feels like a return to form for the franchise. It has all the key characteristics that you’d expect from a Metroid game – level design crafted to encourage exploration and discovery, a positive characterization of Samus, and a general flow to it like no other game in the franchise. Visually, the game is a feast, if not slightly uninspired, but it takes great advantage of the 3DS hardware to really sell the idea of an abandoned planet that nature has taken back.

Zombie Panic in Wonderland

Overall, despite its very nice graphics and solid gameplay mechanics, the overall package of Zombie Panic in Wonderland is disappointing. It just feels like too much filler content that would fail to keep anyone’s attention in the long run. That being said, if you’re into these arcade-style shooter games, this will probably really appeal to you, despite some of its shortcomings. I guess what I’m trying to say is: if you’re a fan of the genre, you’ll probably enjoy it more so than the average gamer but still recognise its shortcomings. If you’re not, there’s probably no chance this will turn you over.

All-in-all, Kindred Spirits is three-and-a-half hours of gentle-paced platforming fun. It could be more challenging but it couldn’t be a better example of what WiiWare has to offer! A must-buy if you have a couple of hours to kill on the weekend!
