Information / Synopsis
This was the first serious project I worked on together with my friend Alejandro — a top-down shooter focused on surviving waves of zombies.
We created it for a Game Maker Studio competition held on Steam back in 2012, where the goal was to submit a game concept. The prize included a Game Maker Studio license, development resources, and automatic approval on Steam Greenlight (yes, back when Steam Greenlight was still a thing xD). I honestly don’t remember if we won anything — I know we had the license, but I’m not sure if we bought it or received it as part of the competition.
Either way, the game is all about surviving — simple as that. It’s an arcade-style survival game where we added challenges, extra lives, and progression elements similar to Steam achievements.
The final concept included multiple weapons, levels, lighting effects, shaders, and more.
I’m uploading the original GMX project from Game Maker Studio. It would need to be imported into GMS2 and recompiled. The code might not be the best quality (it definitely wasn’t xD), but we had a great time learning and working on it, and it meant a lot to us.
