Aureole – Wings of Hope is a flight worth taking. But be warned: if you're looking for a relaxed and reflective experience, it may prove too punishing. Either way, it's a little gem in the indie platformer landscape.

Blades of Fire, che segna il ritorno dei MercurySteam, è qualcosa di nuovo e vecchio allo stesso tempo: il team spagnolo ritorna alle atmosfere dark fantasy di Castlevania - Lords of Shadows, ma questa volta con una ip originale, che per tanti versi non è proprio al passo con i tempi. Apprezziamo senza dubbio il tentativo di voler trovare una strada originale per il gameplay, ma Blades of Fire soffre proprio nell'essere una commistione tra troppi generi e titoli. Certo, Blades of Fire ha il coraggio di battere il ferro finché è caldo. E noi, pad alla mano, non possiamo che rispondere al richiamo dell’incudine prendendo in mano le nostre armi.

Blades of Fire, which marks the return of MercurySteam, is something new and old at the same time: the Spanish team returns to the dark fantasy atmospheres of Castlevania - Lords of Shadows, but this time with an original ip, which in many ways is not quite up to date. We undoubtedly appreciate the attempt to find an original path for the gameplay, but Blades of Fire suffers in being a mixture of too many genres and titles. Sure, Blades of Fire has the courage to strike while the iron is hot. And we, pad in hand, can only answer the call of the anvil by picking up our weapons.

Crisol: Theater of Idols isn't a perfect survival horror game, but it's one of the most interesting ones in recent years. It has brilliant ideas, an original combat system and a memorable setting. Technical flaws and some unpolished mechanics prevent it from achieving absolute excellence, but the experience remains solid and enjoyable. A successful return to the kind of video games that can be completed in a few hours and are most memorable.

Ereban: Shadow Legacy is another example of how easy it is to overlook small, interesting projects from independent studios in the industry, as blockbusters tend to get all the attention. Ereban: Shadow Legacy will appeal especially to those who want to try a game with stealth gameplay that is not overly punishing and allows them to experiment with our creativity and skill.

Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara è un platform piacevole, rilassante e condito da qualche sfida interessante ma mai proibitiva. Rifacendosi a mostri sacri come Super Mario 3D World, in termini di struttura, Chibig propone un videogioco tipicamente old school con uno stile artistico semplice ma funzionale, e capace di intrattenere al punto giusto giocatori di tutte le fasce d’età. Peccato solo per alcune ingenuità, tra cui qualche lacuna di troppo nelle funzionalità. Fortunatamente, il platforming è sempre appagante, e i comandi risultano fluidi per permettere una valida esperienza.

Dopo Gris, Nomada Studio ci riprova con Neva, un’altra breve esperienza videoludica che ci ricorda il perché i videogiochi siano, in tutto e per tutto, una forma d’arte. Una vera perla per quanto riguarda la direzione artistica, tra paesaggi orientaleggianti e un comparto audio curatissimo, ma anche un titolo dal gameplay semplice e solido, adatto a tutte le età e a tutti i videogiocatori. Difficile non commuoversi e non lasciarsi trascinare. Una manciata di ore di pura poesia.

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is an exceptional experience in its own right. Smooth controls, fantastic level design and perfectly balanced boss battles make it one of the best 2D action platformers you'll find. The title offers plenty of fun and challenges for those who want them, while remaining accessible to newcomers.

Rally Arcade Classics is a title that blends nostalgia and depth, suitable for both casual players and rally enthusiasts. The lack of different rally stages and occasional repetitiveness make it a title recommended for the latter category of players we mentioned.

The Occultist is a work that expertly blends puzzles and exploration in a compelling and mysterious setting. DALOAR's debut work entertains and encourages you to continue your investigation to fully understand what Godstone Island holds. The only drawback is its very limited running time and its technical performance, which is at times lacking.
