Prometí un análisis corto y creo que he dicho lo relevante: un juego de estrategia por turnos que ofrece una diversión que, a pesar de ser suficiente, se nos hace un poco "inferior" al haber juegos mejores en todos los sentidos pero para ser lo que es el juego cumple. Amantes de la historia acercaos (a pesar de los ciertos fallos históricos), amantes de la estrategia también, a pesar de que encontraréis cosas mejores. Es un juego curioso sin duda, que ofrece diversión sin más pero tampoco pasará a los anales de la historia.

Con History Legends of War nos encontramos ante un juego que gustará mucho a los amantes de la estrategia por turnos y que aprovecha un marco ambientativo más que sugerente. El sistema de juego es tradicional, pero tiene algunos elementos que aportan una mayor profundidad de la que aparentemente ofrece. Es un título que no decepciona, y que aunque tiene margen de mejora, sobre todo en lo referente al multijugador, consigue su propósito.

As someone who has never really played turn based strategy games, Legends of War: Patton was initially intimidating, but the tutorials explain things well and I was able to find my bearings pretty quickly. The combat was good, although hardcore strategy fans may find the single player lacking AI depth. Having your troops rank up is cool though, and I actually started to get weirdly attached to some of the guys I had since the beginning. It’s not without fault, but as long as you turn most of the audio off it’s a solid, enjoyable game.

History Legends of War Patton cuenta con una buena ambientación histórica y variedad de misiones que tendremos que completar echando mano de nuestra inteligencia y habilidades estratégicas. El juego tiene bastantes detalles que no le harán destacar especialmente frente a otros videojuegos similares, pero no deja de ser un título interesante para aquellos que quieran vivir las aventuras del general Patton, disfrutando de la historia y de la acción propia del género.

Legends of War es un juego largo, a ratos entretenido, pero poco pulido, con una dificultad excesivamente variable y un sentido del ritmo totalmente inexistente. Tendremos la constante sensación de que las misiones se repiten una y otra vez, y que lo que parecía en un principio original o diferente, a las pocas horas se convierte en monótono. Con un poco más de ambición, y la inclusión de un modo multijugador online -el juego tiene un modo enfrentamiento entre dos jugadores en una misma consola muy interesante-, Legends of War habría ganado varios enteros como juego.

Funktional ist das Schlüsselwort. History: Legends of War kann man spielen. Es macht nicht viel Spaß, die Taktik wirkt unausgereift, die Steuerung nie zu umständlich, aber auch nie gut. Die Gegner-KI kriegt nicht viel gebacken und das auch nie mit all den Möglichkeiten, die ihr theoretisch zur Verfügung stehen. Der größte Vorteil ist zum einen die Nähe zum historischen Material, sodass ihr sogar ein paar Dinge über diese Kriegsphase lernen könnt, wenn ihr wollt, und dass es auf der 360 nicht viel Konkurrenz gibt. Das ist in einem Genre, in dem jedes Netbook einige der echten Schwergewichte dieser Spiele-Art zum Laufen bringen kann, kein so toller Vorteil. Also, viel Spiel für relativ kleines Geld und wenn es auch nur für ein Drittel dieser Zeit spannend wäre, dann wäre ich vielleicht auch enthusiastischer. Oder noch wach nach einem Dutzend Missionen.

The historical accuracy and details of the game are a testament to arguably the greatest general the US has ever had. HISTORY: Legends of War: Patton, however, falls flat in many aspects of the basest execution we would expect from a current console game and this keeps it from fulfilling its true potential.

Door dit goedkope uiterlijk en het gegeven dat er het een en ander mis is met de gameplay kunnen we History: Legends of War niet echt aanraden. Het is eigenlijk alleen interessant voor gamers die dol zijn op gemakkelijke achievements en trophies. Als je dan toch een fascinatie hebt voor de Tweede Wereldoorlog dan kun je die interesse beter op de toekomst richten en met XCOM: Enemy Unknown aan de slag gaan. Een strategiegame die geweldig werkt op consoles en in alle opzichten beter werkt dan deze verouderde titel.
