Tower Princess is a charming action-adventure title that leans into the roguelike genre and Zelda style of gameplay with ease. The plot isn’t worth writing home about, nor is it’s sound design or gameplay feel at times. Although, Tower Princess is still worth checking out for it’s fairytale flair and hard-as-nails boss encounters that’ll push players to their limits.

If you like action and adventure games with a simple structure and cute graphics, Tower Princess: Knight's Trial is a game designed for you. The game has successfully added simple gameplay mechanics to the gameplay. In addition, the items, powers, and enemies in the game are satisfactory.

Tower Princess is a 3D roguelite about saving multiple princesses and princes from an ever-changing tower and trying to fight a dragon. It’s full of light-hearted wacky humor and an interesting take on companions with a wide range of items to try out. Unfortunately, your companions are severely limited, and the messiness of the game becomes more apparent the more you grind. However, there’s rescuing to be done, and the Tower Princess is the place to do it.

Tower Princess’s underlying concept of rescuing princesses with unique abilities and teaming up with them to escape a castle is very charming; unfortunately, the rest of the game doesn’t quite live up to it. Add in poor Switch performance and a lack of room variety, and most players will likely get bored before they near the end of the castle. There are some good ideas here, but they just don’t quite come to fruition like they should.

Acción, aventura y plataformeo 3D simple, que no destaca especialmente a nivel mecánico, pero sí por una selección visual que imita a las películas en VHS de dragones, princesas y mazmorras con mucho estilo.

It’s hard to truly judge a title that won’t let you progress a little more than halfway, but what I know of the remainder of the experience, this a knight to forget; an average and repetitive title that is about as rewarding as the princesses’ throwaway comments as you adventure with them – by the 4th time, you’ve seen and heard enough. 

I could keep going on about the things that make Tower Princess such an awful experience (such as how you have to figure out which gift a princess likes by trial and error, as a gift is gone once you give it, or how you’re able to move during the black screen part of entering an area, which causes you to take damage before the image shows up). But I don’t want to ever think about this game again, so I’ll refrain. If you like rogue-lites, you probably shouldn’t play this game. I thought I’d get a cute 3D platformer rogue-lite, only to find a very poor attempt that fails to understand pretty much everything that makes the genre so great. Don’t walk. Run.
