While I’ve never been a big fan of time loops set against a clock in games, Treasures of The Aegean made me look forward to each new run. With a wonderful story, a game map that is truly epic in scope, beautiful animation and comic book style design and wonderful platforming mechanics, Treasures of The Aegean is an essential game for your library with two great lead characters that I hope we get to see more of.

I wasn’t expecting to walk away as impressed as I am by this game, but it really is something special. It’s easy to scoff at it due to how it wears its primary structural influence on its sleeve, but really, it mostly uses the basics to forge its own path, making for a unique, captivating experience with wonderful movement and sharp world design. If you love exploration and filling in the blanks of a world piecemeal, there’s absolutely no reason not to pick up Treasures of the Aegean.

Treasures of the Aegean is just generally masterful and oozes class, and we can’t wait to put this review away and play it again.

Treasures of the Aegean has been a joy to play; initially, I thought It might be hard to get this review done. I figured I might get distracted by a certain AAA racing game that released around the same time as this, but every time I played that I just wanted to get back to the mysterious island that popped out of the Aegean sea and parkour my way across the environment, solve puzzles and search for lost treasures.

En conclusión. Deciros que este Treasures of the Aegean es una de las apuestas más frescas y originales dentro de estos conceptos aventureros con la que me he topado últimamente. Y es que es un juego que funciona con una solidez de unión de conceptos realmente buena. A lo que le acompaña un preciso apartado técnico, y una historia que te mete de lleno en una aventura de esas que te llenan de intriga y sabiduría.

Treasures of the Aegean es un juego que ya desde su inicio tiene algo que consigue atraparte. Una vez dentro la repetición de mecánicas lejos de resultar repetitiva consigue dejarnos con la miel en los labios al final de cada bucle, haciendo así que volvamos una y otra vez a jugar con la intención de avanzar algo en cada visita a Thera.

What certainly helps Treasures of the Aegean is its presentation. It may not feature the kind of fancy 3D visuals that a timeloop game like Deathloop has, but the beautiful comic book style presentation took us back to games like Viewtiful Joe and Comix Zone. This style can be seen in-game, but also extends to how you interact with others and in story scene, which is a very appealing design choice by the team at Undercovers. Definitely one of the surprise hits of the season.

Treasures of the Aegean es un juego intrigante y audaz. Dándote total libertad, puedes decidir cómo quieres abordar el enorme entorno. Debido al enfoque fluido en cuanto a los controles y mecánicas, el jugador puede moverse con gracia a través de los escenarios perfectamente detallados y descubrir la plétora de secretos enterrados. Si bien es cierto que al inicio del juego puede ser abrumador por la falta de objetivos, es una sensación que se dispersa poco a poco en cuento vamos revelando zonas o jugamos áreas más cerradas. Una aventura plataformera que ha sabido recopilar y llevar a cabo muy buenas ideas, aportando un soplo de aire fresco al género. Un estilo único que hace las delicias de los amantes del cómic franco-belga, excelente ambientación y una temática de lo más original. ¡No lo dejes escapar!

Treasures of the Aegean ha sido una aventura estupenda que se presta a jugar en sesiones cortas o medias y en unas 12 horas deberías poder completar el juego y sus coleccionables, lo que no está nada mal. En nuestro caso, hemos podido jugarlo en Nintendo Switch, y creo que puede ser la plataforma que mejor cuadra con su estilo de ciclo y repetición cortos para esos ratitos en modo portátil. Una joya más en el estante de los desarrollos españoles y toda una sorpresa con la que cerrar un año memorable en la escena independiente de los videojuegos.

There’s a lot to take in and comprehend when you first start Treasures of the Aegean. It’s never frustrating or off putting, though. In fact, with every new run (whether it was successful or not), I found myself just wanting to know more about the lore of this mysterious ancient city and what exactly the time loop was all about. For lore buffs, puzzle solvers, and platforming fans, Treasures of the Aegean is right up your alley.

Un plataformas 2D que capta perfectamente la libertad de la aventura buscando tesoros y con puzles de por medio sencillos por naturaleza, pero que siempre nos incentiva a seguir explorando durante un bucle temporal más en la Isla de Minos, un lugar muy agradable en el que perderse (y encontrarse) durante unas horas la mar de entretenidas.

Treasures of the Aegean es un interesante plataformas que recoge varias ideas vistas en los últimos años para trasladarlas a un género tan manido como las plataformas 2D para dar un juego cuanto menos con personalidad. Ya no sólo por su aspecto visual, la banda sonora o la temática, sino también en un gameplay que fusiona movimientos parkour con aspectos del roguelike y las aventuras de puzles. ¿Lara Croft atrapada en el tiempo? Algo así. Una agradable sorpresa nacional que no deberías perderte si te gusta alguna de las influencias que utiliza.

Treasures of the Aegean is an intriguing and audacious game. Giving you complete freedom, you can decide how you want to tackle the enormous environment. Due to the protagonist’s free-flowing approach to traversal, you can gracefully cruise through areas to discover the plethora of secrets that are buried within. Whilst some may be deterred by that lack of a clear objective, those who crave an adventure that gives you control should definitely check out this liberating trip to a lost, ancient world.

Treasures of the Aegean is a clever and exciting adventure that's fresher than the salt-scented seas of the Mediterranean. It might not be the brightest gem on display - but even with it's dust-crusted stumbles, it's a unique rarity that's worth your time.

Treasures of the Aegean ofrece una interesante mezcla entre parkour, metroidvania y roguelike, con un manejo muy divertido y adictivo. Su estilo artístico y sonoro están bastante trabajados y funcionan muy bien con la temática elegida. Por la parte contraria, puede llegar a hacerse demasiado repetitivo y monótono a causa de su enorme mapa y su falta de variedad de escenarios.

There’s a lot of fun to be had with Treasures of the Aegean. This game probably won’t appeal to folks who aren’t fans of time loop mechanics, but if you’re into this style of game and want some entertaining, polished platforming action, it’s certainly worth a look.

No fim das contas, minha experiência com Treasures of the Aegean foi bem mista. No início, foi um pouco estranho, ficando ligeiramente interessante após os primeiros loops e, por fim, ainda um pouco confuso por me fazer descobrir junto com a heroína o que eu deveria fazer para progredir no game. Envolve quem gosta de exploração e puzzles, demandando uma boa dose de dedicação para quem deseja desvendar os mistérios de Thera.

Treasures of the Aegean est un jeu original dans lequel j’ai plongé la tête la première. Le mystère et les découvertes ont su maintenir mon intérêt, et le gameplay effréné m’a coupé toute envie de poser la manette. Le système de boucle temporelle est réussi et intègre l’histoire de manière intelligente. Je n’ai senti la redondance du gameplay que quand j’ai cherché à obtenir les derniers objets optionnels qui me manquaient.

Treasures of the Aegean is a unique game, blending rewarding exploration, energetic parkour and thoughtful puzzles. It’s also refreshingly devoid of combat. It’s just a shame that the controls aren’t a bit tighter, and the overall game a little more polished. It’s also questionable if the time loop mechanic does the game any favours; with such a sprawling map, it can be frustrating starting in a different place each time and having your progress in various puzzles reset. Ultimately, some players will get a great deal of enjoyment out of Treasures of the Aegean, but many will find it scrappy and repetitive.
