Follow a hideous and tormented nobleman through a slew of very creative and inventive puzzle levels that, quite frankly, everyone should try - Ugly is a hidden masterpiece that I'm confident many will find something to love in.

I haven’t quite finished Ugly, but I am definitely going to. So far, it’s been without bugs, fun, interesting, unique, and has a wonderful story. The environment is so rich with details that it tells its own story; the mechanics are interesting and different. I love the music, the movement, and everything about Ugly, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I have to say I'm deeply impressed with Ugly. From the lateral thinking to the graphical presentation, the clever mirror mechanics to the scale of the levels, the little bursts of humour and the intense storytelling: it's an absolute humdinger of a game for people who get a kick out of brain-melting platforming challenges!

In conclusione, Ugly è un’esperienza visiva e narrativa alquanto coinvolgente e drammaticamente appassionante. Il protagonista è ben caratterizzato, per via di uno stile assolutamente ispirato e particolare. Un platform ad enigmi ambientali ben realizzato, con tanto da raccontare e far vivere; non è solo la trama ad avere un’alta evidenza nell’opera, bensì anche il sistema di movimento dedicato all’ombra riflessa del protagonista. Risolvere determinati puzzle intricati attraverso la logica è veramente divertente, specialmente quando si affinano meglio le abilità e si inizia a fare sul serio (dopo circa un’oretta). La storia evidenzia lo strazio di questo bambino nato con un viso brutto, denigrato dallo stesso padre e dalla società intera. Diventa nobile per necessità, così da allontanarsi da questo cattivo stereotipo e cancellare il passato. Purtroppo non ci riesce, e quindi deve in qualunque modo affrontare gli echi di ciò che fu un tempo per rinascere. Una storia convincente, drammatica al punto giusto e con un carattere sicuramente unico. Il titolo pubblicato da Graffiti Games dal 14 settembre 2023 è disponibile su console e PC al prezzo di 19,50 euro. Un rapporto qualità-prezzo tutto sommato ottimo. Se siete appassionati ai puzzle game con elementi platform, allora è il gioco che fa per voi. In caso contrario, state attenti: vi state perdendo un’esperienza non troppo lunga, ma davvero coinvolgente e folgorante.

With five to seven hours worth of gameplay, two endings, a gorgeous art direction, and plenty of brain-busting puzzles to satisfy those craving a challenge, you are easily getting your money’s worth with Ugly. If or when Team Ugly decides to patch the Nintendo Switch version to fix this huge bug, the score will change to reflect that. Only time will tell for now. It is a must-play, but hold out for that update so that you can actually see the game through to the end.
