Scrapland creates a stunning new world, a setting of unique architecture and character design and hopefully marks the birth of a new franchise.

I grew up with Sierra and Lucas 3D adventures, and in a day where adventure games have become synonymous with the point-and-click slideshow style made famous in Myst it was refreshing to “come home” to a true 3D adventure that mixes entertaining characters, charming dialogue, a great story, and old-fashioned adventure gameplay. Kudos to Revistronic for keeping the genre alive and a big thanks to The Adventure Company for bringing this game to America where we can all have a taste of the Old West.

I highly enjoyed the story of Murder in the Abbey. It was well written and the dialogue is pretty good and the graphic blending of cel-shading, 2D and 3D graphics really make this title stand out from the rest of the crowd. The only thing that really bugged me was the voice acting from a few of the character. If you're looking for a tale of monks getting knocked off or perhaps a good read I recommend giving Murder in the Abbey a stab. At 20 bucks it's well worth a try.

Like I said in the opening bit, my kids really dig Cosmic Family – at least for the time being. The game offers top-notch kid-friendly presentation and a solid selection of kid-level mini-games. And if it were not for the fact that Cosmic Family just does not offer the degree of depth or longevity of similarly priced grade-A titles, it would be a sure recommendation.

Give it a weeklong rental, and if the kids are still asking for more, go ahead and pick up a copy. And let those kids go off on their own. But make sure they wear the wrist strap, right?

Given a choice between the two top contenders in the World War II genre, I would have to choose Desert Rats over War Times. War Times is a fun, playable and respectable effort at capturing the feel of World War II combat, but its magnificent cutscenes and (initially) superb soundtrack end up promising an experience that the blocky graphics, uninspired landscapes and poor sound effects can't make good on. Fans of WWII real time strategy games will ultimately enjoy the experience War Times offers, but casual RTS players should probably try before they buy.

Don’t be fooled by this game’s marketing. Torrente is a lame movie tie-in, which should have never been released in the United States in the first place. The graphics are bland, the sound is grating, and the gameplay is about as much fun as watching paint dry. There are better things you could do with twenty dollars. Like take your girlfriend out to a movie, or donate it to charity, or even set the twenty-dollar bill on fire and watch it burn.

Ugly is a beautiful game that brought me equal amounts of joy and disgust. Its minimalist approach in delivering narrative and simple yet constantly evolving mechanics kept me moving through this amazing and grotesque adventure.

If you’re in search of a gaming adventure that invites you to explore uncharted territories and captivates your imagination, Verne: The Shape of Fantasy is a must-play. It’s not merely a game; it’s an epic odyssey that will stay with you long after the credits roll.

I sincerely hope that if Flaming Llama does come out with a sequel, that they take the time to make some tweaks to the controls and overall gameplay, because while Twogether definitely showcases promising possibilities, the overall experience is a bit lacking in depth.
